It depends on the product and the nailing. Asphalt shingles are rated under ASTM D3161 and ASTM D7158, and manufacturers publish wind coverage that is conditional on the nailing pattern — GAF publishes coverage up to 130 mph on Timberline, and Owens Corning publishes 110 mph for Duration, or 130 mph with six nails and a starter strip.
